Rotary Club of Calgary North supports the Freedom Adapted Scuba Program.
It has made such a big difference in reducing the barrier to scuba training for people with spinal cord injuries and nerve damage. The RCCN funding has allowed people with disabilities that have limited control of their body temperature to access the warmer therapy pool for scuba training with Freedom Adaptive Scuba at a cost that is not prohibitive.
Here is some summary information on the Freedom Adapted Scuba Program:
Freedom Adaptive Scuba Program start: February 2025
Total number of people that have tried scuba diving through the program: 15
Number of people that have signed up for open water scuba training to date: 4
Number of hours spent on scuba training in the therapy pool: 20
Here's a picture of a student Kas removing her regulator underwater and smiling at the photographer. You can see how much someone who was very much afraid of the water when we started is really enjoying herself underwater.

These experiences would not be possible without the support of the RCCN Family.
