The Rotary foundation

In Memorium - Ernie Hauser

Bob Watson gave a very moving memorium to Ernie Hauser.  Here it is:

President Brian has asked me to say a few  words about Ernest Albert Hauser 1932-2017.  He was Ernie to all of us.
On the Monday the week before Christmas, Ernie came to lunch at our club and had a real good visit with a bunch of old, long time Rotary friends.  After lunch when I dropped him off at his home at the Valley View Lodge, he told me how much he enjoyed the meeting, and how happy he was, and that “God had been good to him all his life”.
In the next few days he began to fail, but he didn’t want to go to the hospital.  He stayed, an on Christmas Day he had dinner at the Lodge with his 2 daughters, Denise and Diane, and all their families.  He passed away peacefully at the age of 85 in his sleep on Christmas night.
Eric started his working career here in Alberta as a young man working for Union Tractor and learned all about servicing and selling tractor equipment in several towns in Alberta.  After several years he founded Hauser Tractor and Equipment Ltd. In 1965 and represented, serviced, and sold Caterpillar, Ford, Bobcat, New Holland and Toro equipment.
In the early ‘60’s he and his wife Jeannette moved to Calgary where he enjoyed a fulfilling career of selling equipment and making friends along the way.  He actively served his community thru the Kinsmen Club of Calgary and when he reached 40, he joined our Club.
Upon retirement Ernie and Jeannette spent winters in Arizona, golfing and travelling until Jeannette’s passing in 2007.  Ernie enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Ernie was very active in our club serving on many committees and his favourite committee was the Project Evaluation Committee.  He served on that committee for nearly 10 years.  That’s when he decided that he wanted to leave something to his favourite charities and to our club so that his giving would continue long after his passing.
So, in 2010 he set up the Ernest and Jeannette Hauser Endowment by donating $100,000 to the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation.

Some happy news

At our first meeting in 2018, Sheila and Jeff awarded a 4th Paul Harris pin to Gary and a 3rd Paul Harris pin to Turgay.

Congratulations, gentlemen
