COVID19 COMMUNITY SERVICES:  ROTARY FUNDS PPE FOR STREET CCRED CALGARY
In collaboration with Rotary District 5360, the Rotary Club of Calgary North has provided a total of $10,000.00 to Street CCRED, Calgary to provide urgently required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to several Calgary agencies that provide services to the homeless population in Calgary.
According to Stephen Richardson, Program Coordinator, Street CCRE (Community Capacity in: Research, Education and Development) program that works to improve health equity for the vulnerable populations in the city of Calgary.  Since the announcement on March 15th, 2020 by the World Health Organization that the Covid19 virus is being considered a pandemic, Street CCRED has been working with frontline homeless serving agencies to try and improve the health outcomes for Calgary‚Äôs most vulnerable population.  Over the past month, we had recruited volunteer health care professional to support shelters in this state of emergency, have advocated on behalf of organizations for better health care supports as well as other needed materials like Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and have worked with each shelter so access need supplies like the non-contact thermometers that were funded by the Calgary North Rotary Club. 
Additionally, Street CCRED will be able to acquire additional PPE from wholesalers throughout the world.  Additionally, they are communicating with all 5 homeless shelters in the city to understanding what their greatest needs are currently and moving forward as the Covid19 virus continues to affect the city.  Street CCRED will purchase additional thermometers, disposable gowns, surgical masks and gloves for distribution to these agencies.
