Our only Charter Member still in the club.
Around 1917 Tony's parents came from Russia on a visit to Canada. It was a second honeymoon trip that got caught up in the Russian Revolution and they could not return.  They settled and lived their lives out in Unity, Saskatchewan.
On march 9, 1922 Tony was born.  Tony received his basic education in Unity and joined the RCAF as a wireless operator in the early 40's.  He received his early training at Portage La Prairie where he met Olly. He was sent to Newfoundland to fly coastal patrol and was waiting to go overseas when the was ended.
H then went to the University of Manitoba and took a degree in Agriculture. The dean at that time was Grant McEwan who also got him his first job with The Prudential Mortgage Company.
In 1949 he married Olly and they had one son Paul.
In 1950 they moved to Calgary where Tony started a house building company.  He later got together with about 20 other builders and they formed Carma Developers where he was a major player and director.
He also had a small office furniture business and co-owned Logger Lumber Yards.
Carma became a major developer and developed Silver Springs that included his favorite golf course. Tony was in charge of building this and he still has his office building and penthouse suite there to this day.
He loved to golf and spent most of his winters in his condo in Maui.  He was still shooting under 100 a few years ago..
Tony was the Charter Treasurer of the our Club and the second President in 1962/63.
That same year he was the president of the Calgary Home Builders Association. It was a busy year.
Tony was a very active Rotarian, especially in the early years and has always been generous with Rotary and in life.
Unfortunately he has developed dementia and has not been able to attend lately.
